Modern Looking Downstairs Disabled Toilet

Upon completion of a transformation to the main bathroom into a wet room, our customer asked if we could design and refurbish the downstairs toilet and change it into a more accessible disabled toilet .

In addition to accessibility, the client wished to develop a contemporary space that was practical without being too evident that it was tailored to satisfy a disability. Maintaining the clients wish to preserve a less obvious accessible feel, we sourced fittings especially designed for this purpose.

We removed the old original dated cladding, flooring and existing fixtures. Then we built a new rear partition wall to conceal all the old pipe work and enclosed the older pipe work that ran upstairs in the wall.

The next step was to tile halfway up the walls and redecorate the bathroom in a new modern paint throughout. To accomplish the innovative look we then installed a new wall hung sink with an chrome bottle trap, drop down rail and inconspicuous grab rails. The flooring needed to be levelled to enable us to install Kardean Oak flooring.

To complete the contemporary finish that our customer desired, we  mounted a high rise disabled toilet, finishing the considerably more user friendly environment.

“Disabled  toilets and bathrooms can generally feel very clinical but Affect Ability did a fantastic job with the build to create a modern area with subtle accessible features”
